WAIC is open to all organizations worldwide that have a stake in the use of wireless communications on board aircraft. Each member organization supports the effort financially and with subject matter expertise. Airbus, Embraer, Honeywell, Lufthansa Technik, NASA, Rockwell Collins, Thales, United Technologies, and Zodiac Inflight Innovations comprise current membership.
The WAIC program resides within the Aerospace Vehicle Systems Institute (AVSI), an aerospace industry research cooperative whose members participate in collaborative applied research projects. AVSI is part of the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station.
